PRESS STATEMENT: South Africa Civil Society meets Foreign Minister over Israel-Palestine

15 February 2020

Members of South African civil society met yesterday with South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Minister Naledi Pandor, to handover a memorandum.

Organisations present expressed appreciation to the Minister and our president, Cde Cyril Ramaphosa, for their firm stance in support of the Palestinian struggle against Israeli Apartheid and in particular our government’s position against the Donald Trump Israel Bantustan proposal.

The meeting and handover followed a successful protest that was held at the Parliament of South Africa on Wednesday 12th February by various organisations including BDS South Africa, MJC, ANC, SACP, NC4P, COSATU, NEHAWU, COSAS, ANC YL, YCL, Muslim Youth Movement, Al Quds Foundation, Media Review Network, KZN Palestine Solidarity Forum, SAF-K, Kairos Southern Africa and various other formations. As members of the public hailing from various communities we and our constituencies stand with president Ramaphosa, Minister Pandor and our government who have expressed South Africa’s position clearly at the African Union and elsewhere. We will continue to support our government in standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine and all oppressed peoples of the world – from Venezuela to Western Sahara and across the globe!
