Dear Comrade President Jacob Zuma,
I wish to send my revolutionary greetings and gratitude to you for the ANC’s clear support to the people of Palestine.
The party I belong to, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), and our General Secretary, Ahmad Sadaat, joins other Palestinian political parties in welcoming the recommendation by the 5th National Policy Conference to downgrade the SA Embassy in Israel.
As Palestinians, we firmly believe that such a downgrade will show clear solidarity and support for our people. As activists and freedom fighters we fully appreciate the importance of the ANC and its fearlessness in the face of imperialist onslaught.
Please also express my and our gratitude to the ANC Women’s League. I and many Palestinian women have found inspiration in their support of our people. We keenly observed, though from afar, the recent Israeli Apartheid Week and BDS events addressed by comrades Nomvula Mokanyane, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Ayanda Dlodlo, Zingiswa Losi, Baleka Mbete, Jessie Duarte and other such women leaders. Women, indeed, continue to lead in solidarity! I have no doubt that the Women’s League and its leadership have championed this revolutionary and clear act of solidarity to downgrade the embassy in and relations with Israel. There is certainly no victory without our women!
When I met with President Mandela on a previous visit to South Africa he indicated that the ANC and South Africa would not falter on its commitment to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli Apartheid. Hearing news of the downgrade of Israeli relations indeed confirms this commitment.
Finally I want to again appreciate the support of your government in my last visit and the hospitality shown by the ANC across the country.
Many thanks and revolutionary love.
